Solved the issue of the exhaust cans melting sports panniers, a company called Culimeta-Saveguard Ltd, manufacture speciality heat proof fabrics, After speaking to them ive just received some woven glass fabric, foil coated on one side, and foil tape - all heatproof to 550C.
For 1 sqm of the fabric and tape the cost was £20 + vat.
I am using it to place under the panniers, against the cans.
