I have a 08 SD with stock sprockets.
The gears feel very long and I am thinking about buying a new sprocket to solve the problem.
My rear sprocket is 38T and I want to go to a 40T. I haven't looked at my front sprocket but I assume that the 08 came with 16T.
For what I read here that (16/40) seems to be the ideal set up, is that right?
Where is good place to buy a new sprocket in the USA?
Is the chain 530 or 525?
Thanks in advance

16/40 is great... noticeable but not too drastic.

it is .525

I've been to couple sites and e-bay and all I can find is 41T...WTF
Well...in the worse case scenario that will do.
Someone had a link here for a site...c'mon..where is it?

these guys have titanium sprockets, I've heard they come with a lifetime warranty, but you will need to order a full set I think (front/rear sprocket and chain). Some guys on here already used them and have remained customers as far as I know. I'll be ordering from them as well come my first chain change

Does anyone know if we can drop in a 40T sprocket using the stock chain? 41T? I just mounted up some cut slicks on my bike, and they're tall--enough so that they are killing my wheelie capability!!

Turn the chain adjuster blocks 'round 180 degrees.

Turning the blocks is fine. I have then turned to use 16/40 and then turn then back for 16/38 at tracks with long straights.

Bloody hell isn't that a tad over the top? My sprocket came off a piece of piss. Some locktite on the nut and washer has to enough doesn't it?

Yup,
I'm riding with 42/16 and in my humble opinion that is the greatest set for riding in city. It's is very spicy but you can still ride on highway trough the whole gearbox...

The chain will worn out much faster with a Titanium (it is only the name of their product not the material) / a hard alloy sprocket?

From a Kawa forum:
"Yeah, and the slap-chop will replace all my kitchen knives.

Don't listen very much to marketing tripe.
Titanium is expensive, corrosive, and deforms easily if I remember correctly.
Maybe they've got some uber alloy they got from a going out of business sale at the space shuttle program, but I doubt it.
More likely they have an uber bachelors degree in marketing.

I did see someone post a sprocket the other day that was part aluminium but still had steel teeth. That looked like it might be a good idea for a rear sprocket, if made well."
