Starter issues

Well here one I don't know...
The young chap that bought my 990 has some starter issues.
It starts perfect when cold but when hot the starter seems jammed. When he wiggles the bike back-forward in gear it disengages and starts fine again.
Battery and so on all fine and checked and since it only happens when hot obviously not the battery.

Anyone had this before? Me thinks the torque limiter on the starter or the starter itself?

Comrade Guy: Did you ever upgrade the Torque Limiter on that bike. If not, then I think that'll be the problem. One of mine used to do it when hot.
