haven't really had the need for one. had a couple of bar wagging moments but all i did was shift my weight back in the seat, relax my grip on the bars and power on through.

Jeez The money is high! You require the New Black Topyoke for fitment.(This also allows repositioning of bars 1cm further away.)

Guess you may be able to drill and tap original topyoke

As for usefulness. Have to say that it certainly builds a confidence in you Occasional large Bumps in road surface do not cause bars to waggle as quickly. Just an initial bump and then all is fine.
Have had mine fitted for almost a year now(although not that much mileage ) Infinate adjustment. Mines is set quite light.

As for worth the money >£500 over here. Well it's that Old cliche "What price is a Life" ?

I personally have experienced a terminal "Tankslapper" on the road at over 100mph on an FZR 600. I was extremely lucky.(Catseye, Straight road. No furniture)

Any Sports bike I have bought since(1990) has had a Steering damper.

Cheers
Steve

I just added one last month....the bike feels more stable on bumpy roads when cranked over in turns. It also feels better when landing wheelies.

Mounting it on the stock top yokes has my preference 'cos I'm afraid I don't like the extra vibrations from loosing the rubber mounts on the stock yoke. Also, the CNC yoke is black. I would have liked it clear just as the bottom triple clamp.

On the pro-side the CNC yoke allows indeed two positions of the handlebar and bar clamps in different heights.

Any experience on extra vibrations due to the fixed bar clamps?

No noticable vibration at all. Even after removing original Bar endweights and replacing with KTM anodised.

BTW. Unless they have changed the design? You cannot fit spacers to allow for different heights The absense of the cushioning rubber is taken up on the new yoke by a moulding which due to the back or forward postioning holes means that spacers don't fit. (Ordered and tried)

But them we get at least 30% taxes over it and expensive postage costs...the dollar is not that weak compared with euro.

Schwantz, if you get a good price and someone that can bring them in the suitcase...let me know. I also want one

I'll do the same

I have the chance to buy a steering damper from a SDR 2009 for £100 with all the attachments.
I believe it's the OEM one that comes standard on the SDR (WP grey with orange accents) and mounts under the lower triple clamp.

Will it go straight onto my 2011 standard SD mounted in the same place....and is it worth £100?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I have something that fits that description on my 2009 SD.

It works Ok but speaking personally I wouldn't have spent £100 on it (was fitted when I bought the bike) My last SD didn't have a damper and was fine even when ridden hard.

I would skip it and get a scotts if you really want one. The stock units are shit from what I understand.

I don't think the 06+ bikes really need it unless you're tracking the bike at an expert level.

Haha you guys are nuts.

I'll take the advice and skip the stock SDR damper and put the money towards a GPR/Scotts.
