Finally got round to taking the R to donington last week, ultimately it was better than my normal sd but harder work made a lot harder by the seat, under braking I slid forwards and hanging off I slipped off the side, I had to hold myself in position through the bars which isn't ideal, anyone got any ideas on a solution to this, thanks

Grip the tank with your knees, stomp grip apparently helps but I've not tried it myself.

Clean your seat, you may find the previous owner used silicone spray or some such on it making it really slippery.

You could always take it to an upholstery shop and get it recovered in a different material.

Stomp grip on the tank should do it. The factory gel seat I would not recommend for track use as the fabric moves around too much,or at least it does on the one I've got for touring!

My 990R came with the stock seat and a Corbin. The Corbin is slippery compared to the stock seat, and when I wear my Olympia riding pants it's like trying to sit on a teflon brick. I'll be sending it out for a recover in suede. I have used these guys twice now for a 950 Super Duke and a 530 EXC-R and they did a great job.

This spring I bought a new suede seat from KTM Twins for my KTM 950 for a buck fifty US.

Now I got two seats, one for a rainy day.
