Surge problems

I took the new toy out for a blast with Dutch yesterday and had a very enjoyable run, but was plagued by hectic surge issues along the way. 07 SD with dealer fitted/mapped Akra's.

We headed into the essex badlands and around about halfway I got reall issues with surge. I'd head into a corner, brake, shut the throttle and tip in, and then on the way out open the throttle again and the bike would bog down for a second or two before getting a kick up the arse in and finally kicking in. As you could imagine it was a PITA, making me change lines mid corner etc. After we stopped for tea it got worse.

After heading home on the M11 for about 20mins or so we hit the 406 and once back in london it was fine. It felt strong and smooth, and didn't encounter any probs. Nice long 1st gear wheelie off the lights in fact!

Any ideas? Already spoken to the dealer and they're more than happy to take a look at it/book it in if necessary when I drop by next week to pick up some parts.

Have them check the TPS.

You need to have a good look on this section here mate, there's many many issues, and many many fixes...

I'm not sure there's an ultimate fix that works for everyones bike.

I thought the surge was more related to throttle bodies that were out of balance?

Yeah, I hear you and did use search. Like you say I couldn't find anything recent on specifically this type of prob. I'm guessing maybe the TPS or body, maybe they just need to reload the map or try a different one.

Curious that it showed up after the bike had been ridden a while. Definitely tosses the cam as a culprit, sorry weeksy. Doubt it's the map or cans, bike ran fine at first, then later on when back home.

What changed?

Fuel level or delivery - clogged tank breather
Weak/intermittent fuel pump problem caused by heat
Bad batch o' petrol
Low fuel in the tank, hence poor pickup when the bike was leaned over in turns.

How many times did you top off the tank? Any relation to that? Was it hard to open the fuel cap?

TPS sensor: could be, but the intermittent nature puts that far down on my list.
