throttle snatch

Hi All

Im still pretty new to the SDR world, i have just put akro cans and akrp map in mine and the initial opening of the throttle is terrible, what the go to fixing this? once its up in the revs its fine but if you get to a tight set of turns and teh revs drop low, the reopening of the throtle is a disgrace, its like asking for 5% throttle and getting 50%. Also trying to cruise at low speeds is pretty much the same.

Will tune ECU fix this? Its the one and only thing that i really am starting to hate about this bike.

Please someone help!!

Did you do the 15 minute reset of the ecu after loading the akra map (start the engine and let it run for at least 15 minutes without touching the throttle)?

Are you willing to use tuneECU? If yes, read your current map from the bike, disable O2 sensors en put it back on the bike (and again, do the 15 min reset).
If you are not going to use tuneECU, disconnect the O2 sensors and go for a ride to see if it helps. Just disconnecting the sensors will make the F1 light come on but the bike will run just fine. If it fixes the problem you can get eliminators.

Mine got better after removing the SAS

Moto box FTW!!! seriously, smoothened out the throttle the most, sounds fantastic and will give you an extra 10hp

the KTM dealer loaded the map, so im guessing they would have let it idle for 15mins?
Moto box will be getting done eventually,
Is it worth getting a power commander? everyone here seems to like tune ecu.

TuneEcu is free and more options then a powercommander, whats not to like?

Akras and a new map usually smooth things out. If you're still not happy try the G2 throttle cam too. (I haven't, but some swear by it)

I have a G2 (well actually the RC8 cam, also progressive and only 28 euros, G2 is 130 euros(!) ) and it works very well. 2nd gear corners are now much more forgiving and dont need the clutch on a roundabout anymore.

might try and ride it more like a twin, im still used to riding a I4 race bike ( hard transition to make) its fine every where except low in the rev range, the quick action of the throttle is fine, i have the akro map in it, going to try a few other maps that the KTM dealer has for me to try. Otherwise well soon enough ill put the tune ECU in it anyway.

help/advise needed again lads.....Ive done all the mods...MH box..sec. flies and shafts removed...sas removed..o2 disconnected.....the bike was then loads smoother..much improved........Then last week decided to remove the slack from the throttle cable,[after reading another thread] at the throttle bodies end, rather than the handlebar end, as not very much adjustment left up top...put the bike back together ,but it now feels snatchy again...is it just my imagination or have I done something wrong...please advise

Was the bike warm when you did the adjustment?
Only remove the slack in the cable when engine is warm over 4 bars!

BTW you need a bit of play in it even when the adjustment is done with the engine hot.

Good advice!
I like the guys that take out the slack and don't check it with the engine on, lock to lock.
They throw the bike into a turn and Voila! Instant, unrequested throttle increase!
This is only matched by the guys who change the tyres and don't squeeze down the brakes before heading out. I have seen quite a few paddock crashes from that one.

iannowi, if you dick with anything on the bike, don't expect to get it right the first time. I played around quite a bit with my throttle and it took a few times before I settled on the quick turn cam and amount of throttle play.
Whatever you do, don't mess with the TPS. I did it by mistake and BOY, was my tuner pissed! Took an hour of dyno time before he was happy with it.

Speaking of my tuner, he just clinched a 2nd place at Daytona when Tyler O'Hara finished just .002 behind the leader in the HD XR1200 race.
Last year they won the Indianapolis XR1200 race and placed 3rd the next day.
(Sorry, thought I should give him some recognition)

Anything that ktmguy tells you is always correct, BTW.
