Tip/Emergency Switch

Took delivery of my 07 SD yesterday, was chuffed to bits and had a great run out, was even better than I remembered the test rid to be.

The weather was fine again today so fancied more of the same, but on turning the key the head lights came on but no ignition lights at all.

Read the owners manual and it seems to point to the tip switch, why this should have tripped out I have no idea

Does anybody know where this switch hides.

Sounds more like a fuse to me. I think the tip switch may be either in the headlight mask or under the seat. There are the fuses under the seat to try, also one in the bellypan. Good luck.

Checked all the fuses, took side panels off and raised tank (don’t bother nothing much under there), was about to check belly pan for maybe main fuse as Dr f suggested, thanks Dr F by the way. Then I stopped to drink me cupa, n what did I see¿¿¿ you guessed it.

Cjc you is spot on.

What a p*ss off!!!!!!

My Nephew came over earlier to look at the bike just as I was adjusting the clock, before going for a ride. I showed him the trick dash then he asked for a run, as I was coming out of the garage he noticed a screw in the rear tyre, only 115 miles on it n 1 days use.

BUGGER
BO**OCKS
SH*T BAG

ALL the way through , you know the feeling

Whilst repairing it I asked him to hold the handlebars to stabilize the bike as i was shaking it quite a bit n bike went foreward n only just caught it in time (why i thought of the tip switch),he must have hit the kill switch (only ever had Honda’s before switch doesn't kill dash operation), needless to say we didn’t have that ride.

Found something useful though, was then going to fit the alarm, but the dealer in his wisdom sold me an Adventure one instead, so nothing doing there,- if you disconnect the multi plug alarm bridge/blank you get exactly the same affect as shutting off the kill switch – for anyone who hasn’t got an alarm.

Thanks again for the replies, this forum is proving to be more reliable than da bike - well tyres anyway.

Sorry you went through all that, but glad it was an easy fix in the end. Hope the tyre holds up. I'm sure you'll wear it out plenty soon anyway!
