Toasted Tyres

Hey Guys,

I'm now back on the road with a new engine in my SD. Following the recommended break in of not exceeding 6500 rpm, I had quite the blast today. In fact, my back tyre is done, but it only has 2000 miles on it. Is this pretty typical for a Dunlop? I ask because I'm used to getting 3000-3500 miles on the Michelin Pilot Powers?

Thanks for your input.

Regards,

normal for the 208rr its like chewing gum, especially on rough tarmac,
... depending on the wear and whether its tearing / balling severely could suggest your suspension is not workng at its optimum of your tyre pressures are too high (excess heat in the tyre).. usually resolved with some fettling...

On the stock 208 RRs I was to the wear-bars at just under 2000 miles.
But on the upside, I thought they gripped just fine.
