I spent about 2hrs trying to decide the best place to put the ECU. The ECU is very small, so it can actually go in quite a few positions; but it also needs to connect to each coil stick, battery and sensor.

I came up with about 4 different locations as follows:

First spot was a small space just in front of the bikes ECU, easily big enough for the quick shifter (QS) ECU. I decided against this as I didn’t know how electrically noisy the QS ECU would be sited right against the bikes ECU.

Second spot was the airbox on LHS. The position looks nice but is a little exposed; although given build quality of the QS ECU I don’t think this would have been a problem at all.

Third spot was the airbox on RHS – same as above.

Fourth spot, which I ended up using, was under the seat. All connections reached fine bar the battery; this being more of an oddity with the SuperDuke as the battery is under the front cylinder (in the chin spoiler), most bikes would have the battery under the seat and therefore the cables would have reached no problem.

I didn’t really want to connect straight to the battery as there are a fair few wires going down to it and space is really tight. Luckily, just behind the headlight KTM have thoughtfully added 2 aux power points. One is switched and the other live all the time; perfect – as the QS ECU is designed to be powered on all the time but automatically goes into “sleep modeâ€
