Tuning Question after New Pipes/Map

Got my Leo Vince's on last weekend. Had the dealer load the Akro slip-on map. I am using only the rear baffles in the Leos. I have a 2007 US spec SD.

My experience thus far is mixed. The sound is much improved - about the right level of noise for me. Performance while on the gas is maybe a bit torque-ier through the range.

The odd thing is it tends to continue revving when I let off the gas. Kind of like the anti-skid system is overcompensating and dumping too much gas in. Even after coming to a complete stop it idles at like 2300 for 5-10 secs before settling in to 1400 or so. Kinda throws a loop in my timing when I expect some engine drag and get none.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Zaq

deetes,

The cans I am showing in the pics (model 7536) can be seen at:

Yes, I have a 2007, but the 2005 & 2006 Leo Vince cans are the same. I contacted Leo Vince to verify.

They fit fine, but as mentioned in other threads, keep everything loose as u install them, get the cans where you want, and then tighten things up.

Regarding the mysterious extra gas on decel, I am fairly certain the throttle itself is not sticking, as it did not do it prior to the remap and new exhaust.

I made a service appointment next week where I will have the chance to install the new Akra map. But I rode the bike today and the issue with high REVS is slowly disapearing. I think the ECU is making its adjustments and eventualy everything will be ok.

Only the performance could be better - for example I can not wheely in the 2nd gear just on gas - I have to use the clutch

Lamb,

If you had the ECU remapped it's gonna fook the powercommander right up. You need to load a new map to the powercommander as well! Do you understand what a powercommander does?

I know you said you could hear the clutch microswitch clicking, but is it working OK? Try removing the microswitch under the lever altogether, or unplug it and see if it makes a difference, not a cure but a start of the elimination process.

Well, I can confirm with certainty that the reason for the over-rev condition on stops was due to disconnecting the 2nd and 3rd gear sensor wires.

I double checked to make sure I had the correct wires disconnected - I did. Besides, the nuetral light worked so it had to be correct.

Re-connected the 2nd & 3rd gear sensors and took it out for a ride - absolutely no extra revs on slow downs. Absolutely perfect.

I looked through the shop manual and here is an excerpt on the N-2nd-3rd gear sensors, from page 7-36:

"NOTE: This function is especially important for the idle speed control".

<shrug>

So for now I am leaving the wires connected. I suspect the only right answer is to either have the Akra map loaded into the ECU (which disables 2nd/3rd gear restriction) and use the PCIII for fine tuning, or maybe invest in Tuneboy which if I recall gives you the ability to disable the 2nd/3rd gear limitation.

Anyway thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Dr. F - I did disconnect the clutch micro and checked it with a meter - it was fine.

Getting it dyno'd this Saturday so it should be good to go after that.

Thanks!

Which brings me to the question: Finally got my bike remapped today. It runs and sounds great. I had already disconnected the 2nd/3rd gear sensors. Now that I have the KTM/Akra map, if I reconnect the wires for the 2nd/3rd, the map will still override it? Even though I reconnected it after the map was put on. I'm not much good at the electronic/mechanical stuff, I'm afraid.

Thanks.
