turn signal concern resolved

after installing rear turn signals, all 4 turn signals were innoperative, i tried performing the basic checks and swaping back the turn signals, problem still exhisted. i issolated the concern to a poor diode connection in the headlight housing and turn signals work great. if anyone has a simular concern after doing the basic checks, i recommend checking this connection. this diode is located on the right side inside housing, (wires are brown/white & blue/white, the diode looks like a black waffer fuse with an arrow on it ---->

im new to this forum and absolutely love it..
my name is mike and im a superduke junkie.

thank you rigga and gregz for your respose to my turn signal concern.

Thanks VERY much S/Duke! Your solution turned out to be my solution, too, and I'm sure I'd have had to take my bike to the shop to get this fixed if you hadn't posted your findings, since I hate tracking down electrical problems worse than almost any other chore. I'd have run out of patience before I found the solution. It's things like this that make this forum so valuable (especially on a Saturday night with no other option).

I'll add two bits of additional info for the next person to come this way:

a) my wires ('07 US model) were slightly different colors than what S/Duke described; mine were brown/light blue and blue/yellow

b) I had to clean the contacts on this setup TWICE before it worked -- don't know why I bothered trying a second time, but very glad I did

I hadn't done any recent mods on my turn signals, but I did ride through a little rain on my last outing. Not sure if that's when they stopped working, as I rarely look at the dash indicator to check on them, I just take the signals for granted and keep my eyes on the road. I do know they were working fine before the rain. Put some dielectric grease on the connectors after cleaning them, just in case.

After my last post on this thread, I thought I'd fixed my turn signal problem, but it has returned several times now and each time I've "fixed" it by doing something different than the time before. This makes me think I've never actually fixed them at all - they've just started working again, and I've wrongly attributed that to whatever I did last. Maybe while rummaging around I've unwittingly moved something that had the desired effect. Anyway, they're not working again and I've spent a couple of hours plugging and unplugging connectors, replacing diodes and fuses, jiggling wires, etc., but this time nothing is doing the trick. Has anyone solved this sort of mystery on their bike?
