joe mine had two shims changed at first sevice 817 miles, shims were d=10/2,65 03 and d=10/2,70 03 if that makes any sence, i dont no weather they were inlet or exhaust, price was £2.00 per shim so you could buy a selection before you break her down. im on six and a half thousand miles so a wile to go before they are done again. just going of thread mine was first serviced at 800 miles, second service 4150 miles a little early because of the weather at the time, what mileage will my next service be in miles not km that just gets confusing.

GOOD GOD, he has arrived, Man I just read yer PM too, you are my spitting image as far as thoughts, wish I could type as good as you and if you ride this good??! dood?! DO you need a pupil to tag along??! Oh yes it was bliss in a wordful manner, took me 2 years to get to this place and you have delivered me. you know it is all full circle indeed, Much but not much at all is needed to make a convincing argument but all's I could do is follow yer stream of thought, one thing that you know that you may or may not have touched on is,, the bucket and shim design is much more efficient than screw/adjuster types, this makes the SD more likely to not need a 10,000 mile adjustment. Now I know why you used THAT avatar.... I did wonder if you were him?

(It was worth the wait!) Thanks man!

Peace,
joe

I've done my valves at 1000KM and at 15000KM (Coming up on 30000KM currently).

The first time I had 4 valves which were out of spec, they were replaced with KTM shims.

The second time I had 6 valves which were out of spec, these were replaced with H-D shims.

We'll see how they look at my 30000KM go around. Hopefully the H-D shims stand up a little better, they're much cheaper and easier to get as well

P.S.: Take some time your first time around, it'll prolly take you about 6-10 hours. Every time after that it gets faster though; probably about 4 hours now to strip everything off and put it back together. A 90 degree adapter for your torque wrench will make your life much easier as well $0.02US
