can someone tell me what is the difference in the engine of SD-R and gives 12hp more then the simple model?
why 12hp more?

#2Bigger throttle bodies, diffrent cams, slightly reworked heads, diffrent compression ratio, higher rev limit. Basically all extra power is all further up the rev range and comes from more air and fuel!
And i did say basically, before SDR owners jump all over me
Just so you no, only 2008 SDR onwards has increased power, 2007 models have exactly the same engine as standard SDs

#3I believe my Supermoto 990 R has same motor as std. SD--My SMR had more power until 7500 rpms--then the SDR kept climbing (final output: 120 HP/Supermoto and 132 HP/SDR). Both bikes had exactly the same mods: Motohooligan/Akras/custom tuning.

#4I've read cams are the same grind between SD and SD-R. Crank is lighter (less flywheel effect, revs quicker).
I would like a very concise and precise list of differences between SD and SD-R...just haven't had time to do all the digging. not even sure where to find info.
Would also like to know exactly what the UK battle bikes had done to them in 07 to achieve 130+RWHP. That would just about make the standard SD the perfect bike.

#5the bigger valves, higher compression and freer flowing exhaust would all assist with making the engine breathe easier, exploiting the higher rev limit.
seeing as horsepower is nothing more than a mathematical calculation of torque x rpm divided by 5252 moving peak torque higher in the rev range AND increasing the maximum rpm will give a larger horsepower number.
obviously any increase in torque will result in an increase in horsepower, but with an increase in max rpm you get an increase in the multiplication factor as well.
grand prix machines make insane horsepower because they're incredibly well engineered, the 18,000 rpm isn't the lowest factor in how they get their 240+ hp.

#6From what I've read, the SDRs have titanium exhaust valves, enlarged ports, lighter flywheel (but it could have been the crank), bored-out throttle bodies, increased compression and the higher rev limit along with a revised ECU. My SDR also came with a 525 x-ring from the factory (not sure what the 'normal' SDs use). Other differences include the front brake calipers, the front fork, the rear shock (which shortens the wheelbase which steepens the rake and it also raises the ground clearence), the mono-seat setup, and of course that orange frame. Mine also came with the Akropovic Ti header but maybe that was a dealer add-on.
In reality, it doesn't really matter; those are just parts or bullets on a tech sheet. It's how the whole damn thing comes together, how it comes alive... How no matter what it still makes you pat her flank when you dismount to say, "Thanks for not killing me again..." Whatever KTM did when they created the SuperDuke was 1 part brillance and 2 parts maddness cooked up in cocaine and served smoking hot... then one of those nutty fookers decided to get downright nasty and served up the R model... Listen to me?! I sound like a friggin idiot and my SDR has almost 40k! I'm still smitten!

#7There is a list on here somewhere of the exact changes but I can't find it now. I know they include
New head with larger valves, exhaust are titanium
New lighter pistons
New lighter crank
Lighter flywheel
New ECU

#9And it doesn't give 12 bhp more either. Check out the 2013 Crashfest dyno run. Def more power and torque but nothing like 12 bhp from what I can remember.

#13Stalker's is pretty frisky for a old school bike.
Woody and I have enjoyed several drag races at Almeria and his bike has some legs on mine even if I come out of the corner quicker.

#16I'm getting Tony to dyno my bike this year. I need to know if I can walk away with at least 1 trophy
