So you finaly got the headers off 3 weeks is no probs, your fuel won't go off in such a short space of time. If you don't have an optimate battery charger or similar, GET ONE!, or just disconnect the battery (cheaper).

Remember to thread lock everything when you put it back together.

I've just done the whole winter cleaning thing and noticed some bolts were loose.

Damn good question, No need to prepare the bike, not long enough to

worry with, battery tender on battery while bike is not in use,

DO NOT USE THE PERMANENT TYPE OF LOCKTIGHT ! brand name I use is permatex.

I use the lightest stuff, it is green in color of substance.

(can be used after the fastener has been installed)

BEWARE of instant wheelies when you ride the bike for the first time on !!!

Mine feels like a new beast after being off for 10 days, SHE is one

Addictive Bitch, all that it took for me to realise this was a small time off of her,

due to the killer Ice Storm. I LOVE Me Thunder PUmPkin !!!!

It is fookin wonderful, makes life a whole new game, cannot wait for

the track to be back. Good luck shade, I'll be thinking of ya.

Oh nearly forgot, GOOD call on the ceramic, best move a man could make, the heat kills yer bike !

It doesn't matter which terminal you remove, but it's always best to remove the negative. If you remove the positive, when it comes to reconect, if you accidentaly touch any (metal) part of the bike with the spanner when tightening the bolt, you'll have a whole load of sh*t on yer plate! Not that you'll be able to see it, 'cos you will have been blinded by the big fuggin' flash! Remove the negative, it's safer.

No fear of that happening, unless you've got an '07 with dodgy clocks.

latest update, just got back from a two hour session cleaning all removable parts/bodywork.

I've still got the rear wheel to do, but I've done the rear sprocket etc. I finally got the rear shock off, the spring is not looking good!! It's got some paint missing and cracked paint all round it, I will clean and protect it with ACF50 and shockshield but will look to order a replacement in the new year, might up rate it too while I'm at it.

Has anyone ever removed the spring from the rear shock? I assume it's near impossble to get it back together as the spring must be under compression. I cant even compress the spring at all with my body weight on it now it's off the bike so I doubt I'd get the psring back on!!

Right, I'm off out for a Xmas eve piss up.

Happy Xmas everyone!!

laters...

I've not done it, but I believe the WP manual has instructions for a complete strip-down and rebuild. That should show spring assembly. Have one for me!

Shade, i surely do care cos it makes me want to get my loverly orange header pipe wrap off of the pumpkin,

then for the loverly satin (styley, yet stealthy) black ceramic will look dewonderfully.

Most all of these forum members that I had sent my track pic's to said something snide about the orange "fashion statement" header wrap,(god bless them all, every one).

the wrap it is looking a little ragged (which I kinda like), so this is a good thing , oh nearly forgot to add....there is a track day at the local track this sunday if anyone here wants to join me,,,.
