I bought the kit from which is a Swedish site.
The lo beam bulb is a H7, the Hi is a H3.
There was no way I could fit two ballasts in the front so I had to leave the hi beam as it was.
The light I got was 35W and 6000K. I also changed the parking light bulb to LED light so it wouldn't look ugly.

i forgot the wattage of the bulb i used but it is a 4500K white one

i also got a 3000K gold ( yellow ) one for those foggy days

one ballast will fit inside the 05 headlight mask.

Nickeluring the LED light for the parking light sounds good, can you give more details regarding this?? thanks

Hi Nick.

It looks great.....but.....dare I ask how much??

Would it be possible to run 2 xenons from one balast box (relay or electronic changeover, maybe??). Not had any 1st hand technical experience of xenons mysellf (yet)

I don't know how it's done on a 05/06 but on the 07 it was really easy. It took me a couple of minutes.
Here's a screen shot from the manual:

I'm glad you're happy with the result. It'll look even better once you've managed to change the parking light to get rid of that dash of yellow. Do you have any pics?

After market HID's aren't road legal here either, but when it's time to get a road worthy certificate (year 2011), I'll just swap back. A 5 minute job.

Been fitting HID kits to my bikes for about 4 years now never had a problem.

The only ones that are dodgy are twin use shuttling high low beam, single bulb as they give the wrong pattern

I fitted mine last weekend (on a 07 SD) and it was as simple as others have said.

The kit comes with more wires than you need to use which confused simple oll me.

I got my kit from this guy on ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/mydepots and his instructions are here: www.mydepots.com/images/hid/installation.pdf
The kit cost £40.75 delived and the Customs & E didn't tag it for import duty.

The only work i did was to cut a round £2 coin sized hole in the rubber hood inside the headlamp cowling for the bulb cover.

I am waiting delivery on exactly the same one !

How is the kit ? Only reason I ask is because I read they are from China ??

Any idea on quality ??

has that 80W bulb not blown yr fuse then? did you use a relay for fitting so as to protect yr fuse?

I've got some PIAA 80W bulbs rated at an equivalent 130W output but just dont wanna use em cos I figured it'd blow my fuse...

Excellent - H7 for my 2007 as well then. I feel blind with the OEM bulb, and with the new one I will be able to signal aliens during wheelies!

Demon Tweeks have HID units for bikes as well(www.demon-tweeks.co.uk) Prices are eye-watering though---cheapest £500 for an H1 unit £700 for an H4 dip/main unit...... Acumen ones seem cheap in comparison---maybe they are Chinese as well?

I got a Chinese one a couple of months ago off fleabay and fitted it no problem, seems to be okay so far and there is a complete spare unit in the box if I need it, not bad for £40 !!
